What is WIOA?

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) assists job seekers and workers access to employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market.  It also matches employers with skilled workers they need to compete in today’s global economy.  WIOA promotes the use of career pathways and sector partnerships to increase employment in in-demand industries and occupations.  WIOA increases individuals with disabilities’ access to high quality workforce services to prepare them for competitive integrated employment.

The Mission

To operate, in conjunction with other One-Stop Workforce System partners, a customer-driven workforce development system that maximizes return on investment while focusing on customer satisfaction.

 

WIOA Programs Adult and Dislocated Worker Program

The WIOA Adult and Dislocated Worker Program are designed to help those who are unemployed or underemployed.  Case Managers enroll new participants throughout the year at Workforce Solutions Panhandle One Stop Centers. WIOA services include:

    • Assistance with finding job openings
    • Help with Contacting Employers
    • Assistance with resumes, cover letters, and job applications.
    • Interview coaching
    • Job Search and Job Retention workshops
    • Career Assessments and Exploration
    • Occupational Training
    • Follow-Up Services

 

Year Round Out-of-School Youth Program (Ages 16-24)

The WIOA youth Program for youth ages 16-24 is operated year round.  Program services include:

    • High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation (formerly GED)
    • Paid and Unpaid Work Experience
    • Alternative Secondary School Offerings
    • Occupational Skills Training
    • Career Assessment and Exploration
    • Leadership Development
    • Follow Up Services

 

All job seekers are eligible for Core services under WIOA. Those wishing to pursue Intensive and Training services must follow the application procedures and meet certain guidelines.
